Rodents are pests that are commonly found in buildings, houses and factories. Rats and mice can create structural damage to buildings by gnawing at wiring, wood and piping. They are also carriers of disease.
Rats and mice are omnivorous. Rats breed throughout the year, providing the temperature within their habitat is favourable. There are two common species: Rattus norvegicus and Rattus rattus
Rats can swim, climb, burrow and gnaw so therefore they are able to gain access to many structures via the these means.
Rats are mainly nocturnal
The Norway rat tends to eat meat
The roof rat tends to eat vegetables
Mice tend to be less of a nuisance pest but do consume food stuff and they can become a problem in homes offices and factories.
